National Tartan Parade - Community Event
Thank you to everyone who braved the windy weather to represent Emma Louise Dance Club at the National Tartan Day Parade hosted by Lochryan Highland Dance Events Group.
We had a fantastic time. It is always a pleasure to support other local community groups and we look forward to participating in future events.
We are grateful to dancers, parents/carers and family members for giving your time during the holidays to support Emma Louise Dance Club and the local community. Thank you.

Riverside Centre - Performance
Emma Louise Dance Club visited the Riverside Centre, Newton Stewart to perform for their members. Everyone danced brilliantly and we are very proud of you.
The ladies and gents at the Riverside Centre enjoyed watching the children perform and had fun joining in with "Rock Around The Clock".

ELDC Star of the Month - March
Congratulations to Christina, our March Star of the Month.
Christina is a dedicated, hard working pupil. Christina practices at home to improve her dance skills and is using the checklists to improve her ballet vocabulary and dance knowledge. Christina’s attendance is excellent and she attends class focused and ready to learn.

ELDC Starlets - Superstar Award
Congratulations to ELDC Starlet Kaiya. Kaiya was awarded the Superstar Award in the March team session.
Kaiya is a dedicated dancer who fully commits to the team challenges. Kaiya has a positive can-do attitude and is a supportive team mate.
ELDC Starlets have completed the lyrical team dance choreography and are looking forward to performance opportunities in April. Well done team.

Morgan's willingness to participate in class has greatly improved. Morgan is working hard on his communication skills and understanding of the requirements for dance class. Morgan is growing in confidence and working hard on improving his dance technique and performance skills.

Congratulations to ELDC Starlet Taylor. Taylor was awarded the Superstar Award in the February team session.
Taylor is a dedicated team member. Taylor demonstrates tenacity and perseveres when learning new skills. When faced with a new challenge Taylor works with determination to achieve the goal.
The team is working hard on Lyrical solos, duets, trios and a team dance for the first dance competition of 2024 in April. Well done team.

Congratulations to Stephanie, our January Star of the Month.
Stephanie works extremely hard and is always ready to learn. Stephanie is quick to apply corrections in class and practices between classes to improve her ballet technique. Stephanie is a dedicated dancer and a pleasure to teach.

ELDC Starlets - Superstar Award
Congratulations to ELDC Starlet Isla. Isla was awarded the Superstar Award in the December team session.
Isla has shown improvement in her front splits and lead the team as they were working to improve timing.
The team continuing the stretch challenge to improve their splits and working on a Jazz routine for next the first dance competition of 2024. Well done team.

Lets Get Loud 2023
Emma Louise Dance Club presented Lets Get Loud at the Ryan Centre, Stranraer.
70 performers took to the stage at the Ryan Centre to perform songs and dances with a 90's theme.
The raffle raised £373 which has been split between Emma Louise Dance Club & MacMillan Cancer Care.

ELDC Starlets - Dance Competition
ELDC Starlets attended a dance competition in Glasgow on Sunday. For some of the team this was their first dance competition.
The team danced in Under 16 Beginners category placing 2nd (Open) & 3rd (Hip Hop). Under 8 Lyrical Solo placed 6th, Under 12 & Under 16 Hip Hop Duets both placed 2nd.

Newton Stewart Initiative Community Shop Awards
Emma Louise Dance Club is thrilled to have received funding from Newton Stewart Initiative Community Shop Awards. Senior pupil & class assistant, Kaiya, attended the award ceremony and collected the funds on our behalf.
The funds received will help purchase costumes for our February Dance Show. We are very grateful to Newton Stewart Initiative Community Shop for the funds.

Newton Stewart Snow Angel
ELDC dancer, Connie, was awarded the role of Snow Angel at Cree Valley Area Development Trust, Winter Wonderland event.
Connie accompanied the Snow King and Snow Queen for the Christmas Lights switch on in Newton Stewart.

Fancy Dress Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Fancy Dress Fundraiser. Dancers had lots of fun dressing up and taking part in Halloween themed classes. We have raised £284.00!
- £142 will go to ELDC Costume Fund to purchase costumes for the February show.
- £142 will go to Emma' Fund. When she is well enough, Emma & her family can enjoy some special days out together.

ELDC Starlets, Abbi & Katie had the exciting opportunity to visit the new Diversity Studio, meet members of Diversity and take part in a dance workshop lead by Nathan & Sam.
The girls won this opportunity by taking part in an online dance competition last year. A big thank you to everyone who voted for the girls.

Emma Louise Dance Club is delighted to welcome Kathleen to our dance family. Kathleen is our new class assistant.
"Hi everyone! My name is Kathleen, I’m 22 and I have a HND in Musical Theatre. I’ve been dancing, singing and acting since I was 3 years old and absolutely love anything to do with performing. Since joining Emma Louise Dance Club a few weeks ago, I have been fortune enough to meet and assist some of your lovely children in their dance classes. From what I’ve seen already, there is so much talent within the club and I’m so excited to properly get stuck in after the summer. I look forward to meeting you all soon!"

Dumfries Carnival 2022
Emma Louise Dance Club had a great time at Dumfries Carnival. Set 1950's, dancers played Washing Hoose Women. Taking the laundry to the wash house and hanging it up to dry along the river Nith at Whitesands.
Well done dancers. You were brilliant.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee
Isle of Whithorn dance classes celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee on Saturday 4th June.
Primary Ballet & Junior Ballet took part in special Jubilee themed classes. Dancers dressed up as prince & princess and had lots of fun.
We danced the decades in Popdance Fit with dance routines set to a great selection of songs from 1950's to 2020's, including The Queen's Favourite Pop song - Dancing Queen!

Theatre Trip - Diversity Connected
Emma Louise Dance Club arranged a trip for Move Dance Challenge pupils to see Diversity - Connected at Kings Theatre, Glasgow.
Emma, Kelly, dancers and parents had a brilliant time in Glasgow. The high energy, innovative performance was enjoyed by all.
A fantastic day out and a lovely treat for our hard working competition team.

Dancers in Popdance Fit classes in Isle of Whithorn (Tue & Sat) & Stranraer (Thu) had fun learning & performing Popdance Fit routine to Bruno Mars, Uptown Funk in aid of Comic Relief.
Emma Louise Dance Club raised £105 for Comic Relief helping to make a huge difference to people’s lives both in the UK and around the world - Thank You!

ELDC Fancy Dress Fundraiser
Dancers attending Emma Louise Dance Club classes have raised £250 by taking part in a Fancy Dress Fundraiser.
The funds raised have been donated to two charities.

Move Dance Challenge - Finalist: Golden Ticket

ELDC Starlets - Superstar Award
ELDC Starlets are continuing to work hard on the Move Dance Challenge. October's choreography includes the Moonwalk inspired moves! The team picked up the new moves quickly.
Katie was awarded the ELDC Starlets Superstar Award this month for her improving flexibility and positive attitude during the session.

Feature Film - Stella
Emma Louise Dance Club pupils are appearing in a new feature film by writer and director Jessica Fox.
Thank you to the whole cast and crew for a wonderful experience. Dancers had a fantastic time in rehearsals and on set. A brilliant opportunity for Emma Louise Dance Club pupils.
The film will be released in 2022 and we are looking forward to seeing it on the big screen.

The team are working really hard on the Award City Move Dance Challenge. September's choreography is a little tricky, however, the girls worked hard and picked up the new moves quickly. Abbi was awarded the ELDC Starlets Superstar Award this month for her hard work and focus during the session.

ELDC Summer Ballet Camp
Thank you to everyone who attended our first ever Ballet Camp. We had a great time over the three days. It was lots of fun and we will be running more Ballet Camps in the future.

Make Up Challenge
ELDC Starlet, Katie, completed the Award City Make Up Challenge in January & February. She created two fantastic make up looks and received a medal for each look.

Celebrating Volunteers Week - Abbie
"Hi I'm Abbie. I'm 16 years old and I volunteer to help out Popdance Tots and Primary Ballet in Stranraer. I started volunteering because I enjoy my time at Popdance and wanted to pass my experience and help the younger ones to improve their dancing. I have been at Emma Louise Dance Club for 10+ years and have learned a lot from Emma and feel that I can encourage the younger ones to enjoy it as much as I have."

Celebrating Volunteers Week - Kaiya
"Hi, I am Kaiya McDowall I’m 12 years old and I started Ballet when I was 3 years old. I am currently in Senior Ballet and I have been helping Emma teach the Primary Ballet class for the last 2 years. The Primary Ballet class is for children aged aged 3-5 years old. I enjoy my volunteering role as I like seeing the children make friends with each other, and I like seeing their dance ability and confidence improve. Helping Emma with the little ones has given me the opportunity to pass my love for ballet onto others."

Teacher Emma Training with FLexercise
During the pandemic Emma has been working towards Level 3 Exercise Movement & Dance Qualification with FLexercise.
On completion Emma is looking forward to starting a FLexercise class in Wigtownshire.
FLexercise will be a fantastic new addition to the dance fitness classes Emma Louise Dance Club offers for adults in the local area.

Welcome Baby Georgia
ELDC dancers, Christina & Ashleen have a new baby sister. Georgia Leigh McCann was born on Saturday, which is also Ashleen’s birthday so a double surprise for her.

First Aid Certificate
On 3rd April, Emma completed Paediatric First Aid training with Annie's Aider. First Aid Certificates must be renewed every three years. Paediatric First Aid training covers how to help babies, children, and adults in a medical emergency. Staying up-to-date with first aid training is important for maintaining a safe dance school for our dance family of pupils, teachers, parents/carers, and volunteers.

Strictly Come Dancing Children In Need Dance Challenge
Dancers from all Emma Louise Dance Club classes took part in Strictly Come Dancing Dance Challenge. Dancers learnt, performed and filmed a section of the dance challenge in one lesson. We raised £100 for BBC Children in Need. Thank you for your donations.
